ABOUT THE BOOK
THE STORY
Stargazer Celia is a cyberpunk magical girl graphic novel that digs into the corporatization of the self — and how many ways we can feel love. The saturated, glamorous colors of magical girl anime, run through the harsh and gritty capitalist machine.
Celia Hawthorne, office-worker extraordinaire at the peak of her career as an absolutely notat SuFlex Industries, finds a mysterious, magical cat wandering the office grounds: Splendid Dream™, the retired Magical Girl who flagshipped the golden age of Neotropolis's most revered pastime. Since Celia can somehow understand her, Splendid Dream™ gives Celia her powers, and the two join The Stargazers — an up-and-coming small business operation, a subsidiary of SuFlex Industries. With fist and paw, they'll try to rise to the top of the Magical Girl World.
But first: rival Magical Girl groups, extreme sports, the monstrous Shattered, celebrity lifestyle, and Saph — Celia's evil ex-girlfriend, under contract with the Lunar Rangers. Will Celia last long enough to redacted, or will she become one of the monsters she's paid to hunt?
THE WORLD
A futuristic world parallel to our own in its dystopia. In Neotropolis, Magical Girls are the most revered pastime there is — sports, concerts, monster cleanup — and every bit of it runs on contracts, sponsorships, and televised arena combat.
The story unfolds in three acts, each envisioned as a 250–280 page volume, told in action, comedy, romance — and a touch of horror.
